How to Choose the First Kake of Kyudo.

Are you having trouble choosing a Kake?

I made a video about how to choose Kake, and I'll post it here.

Two points for choosing Kake.

The first is that the thumb is hard and the rest is soft.

The softer it is, the easier it is to draw the Yumi.
At first, you will have a hard time just drawing the Yumi.
Taihai is important, but it will be more fun if you can draw the Yumi with something that is easy to draw first.
If you can, try borrowing a soft Kake to draw your bow.
It will make the Yumi easier to draw.

Second, the groove on the thumb should be straight.

Kake of Kyudo. The groove on the thumb should be straight.

If you are not accustomed to drawing the Yumi, you will draw the Yumi while holding the thumb part with your index and middle fingers.
Once you get used to it, you will be able to draw it with just the groove of Kake's thumb.
The straighter the groove on the Kake, the easier it is to draw the bow.
Once you get used to it, you can use a slanted groove that suits your bow drawing style.

For beginners in Kyudo.
