 How to wear the Dogi

What to prepare.

1. Dogi
3. white shirt

Explanation of how to prepare to put on the dogi. When you put on your Kyudo uniform, you should prepare a white shirt.

A white shirt is needed to be worn over a colored shirt, as shown in this picture.
This way, the color won't show through the street clothes.

Points to keep in mind when wearing a Dogi.

Tie the strings of the Dogi.
Explanation of how to prepare to put on the dogi. Once you have put on your Kyudo uniform, tie the string.

There is a caveat at this point.

Align the right collar of your Dogi with your left armpit.
If you just tie this, the collar will look sloppy.

The left collar should not only be tied, but should also be aligned with the right armpit so that the shirt underneath is not visible.

When it looks like this, it is complete.
You can't see the colored shirt underneath.

Example of failure.

This is a case where the collar is not aligned with the armpit when tying.
As you can see, the neck becomes sloppy.

To wear beautifully is called "Midashinami" in Japanese.
